Edu is a Fulbright-awarded artist from Tenerife based in New York City.

Edu Díaz (he/him/él) is a Fulbright Alumnus and multi-award–winning actor, producer, and theatermaker from the Canary Islands based in New York City. His boundary-pushing works blend clown, drag, puppetry, and physical theater to explore identity, displacement, and resilience.

He is the creator and performer of A Drag Is Born, the acclaimed, multi-award–winning solo show that premiered at NYC Fringe 2024 and toured to the Edinburgh Fringe 2025. His credits also include PULSE (The Chain Theatre, 2025), Fantastic Mr. S (United Solo 2022), and upcoming projects LIPSTICK and PETRUS, inspired by the real story behind Beauty and the Beast.

Edu’s work has earned multiple accolades, including Best Solo Actor (NYC Fringe, 2024) and Best Solo Show (Orlando Fringe, 2024) for A Drag Is Born, the FuerzaFEST Outstanding Achievement Award (2025) for Lipstick, and the Short Play Festival Best Play Award (2023) for Twin Towers. His projects have also received support from the Consulate of Spain in New York, the Edinburgh Fringe Society, and NoMAA.

With over ten years of experience, Edu has produced successful shows in Spain—including the commercial hit Amores Minúsculos—and appeared in theater and film (Smoking Club (129 Rules), Third Week). He has trained with masters such as Susan Batson, Moisés Kaufman, Julia Proctor, Fernando Piernas, Natalia Mateo, and Gabriel Chamé, and expanded his producing skills through Next Stage with Tony Award-winning producer Ken Davenport.
